The name Welcombe is derived from the Anglo-Saxon words Weill a spring and Combe a valley. The sumptuous surroundings of the Menzies Welcombe Hotel are true to its name.

Built in 1866, this imposing Jacobean mansion in the Calendar House style was designed with 7 entrances (days of the week) 12 fireplaces (months) 52 chimneys (weeks) and 365 windows (days of the year). This feature was said to infuse with luck and prosperity everyone who stayed.

On arrival at the hotel guests will appreciate the hotels impressive interior. The lounge was once the Great Hall and has the original oak paneling, ornate mirrors, chandeliers and period furniture.

The massive marble fireplace has also been retained, where during the winter months a welcoming log fire is set. The hotel has magnificent views over its 157 acre grounds onto the 18 hole championship golf course and the Warwickshire countryside.
